Ali Pasha's Castle
It is a small castle set in a beautiful
position on a peninsula in the small tectonic bay of Porto Palermo. Ali Pasha built this fortress in honor of one of his grandsons, with whom Vasiliqia was heartfelt. Vasiliqia was distinguished for its beauty and skipped like it would be different, just as wonderful and unique as it was and gifts for her , the fort built on its name. At the same time the castle served as a checkpoint. The castle is located not far from the village of Qeparo and has a triangular shape of 150m x 400m. The height of the walls reaches 20m. Ali Pasha's Castle is located in South Albania, on an island about 30m away from the coast where the narrow waterline between the coast and the island is filled with stones to realize a land connection with it. This bay named Porto Palermo took the time of Italian invasion, reminding them of their place, the city of Palermo in southern Italy.
Ali Pasha's Castle
has three powerful bastions around the corner and its entrance is in the middle of the southern wall. On the sea side between the two bastions there is a trapezoidal surface surrounded by frenzy walls. The castle grounds served to shelter the garnison, while one of them served as a prison. The peninsula where the castle is located is covered with evergreen Mediterranean shrubs, while a beautiful view of the sea is visible from the bedrens and the Bay of Brides where it is thought to bathe Vasiliqia. The beauty and grandeur of this fort have been packed in many books devoted to Ali Pasha. The fortress built around two centuries ago, is a stone-built building, an interesting relic for tourists and Albanian tourism. The castle has been awarded the status of the Monuments of Culture. Once in the fortress was a stone slab where it was written "I Great Pasha Ali I built this fortress." Around 300m far from the castle on the side of the road is the famous church built by Ali Pashai personally for Vasiliqine. The construction of this Pasha church entrusted to an Italian architect who completed it in a very short time.
