Monastery
Monastery of 40 Saints
By the sixth century BC, the name of the city of Saranda was built for the sacrifices of heroes, 40 Roman soldiers who were sacrificed in the name of the god. For this sacrifice, the Orthodox religion declared them the saint where today in the monastery are carved their names. The monastery is on a hill in the east of the city of Saranda, facing the castle of Lekures with an architecture and Roman construction. The church consists of Naos and Narteksi. The icons and iconsostasis of this church were important works evaluated by Byzantine foreign scholars, who delayed its construction before the Ottoman conquest, and even thoughts that lead to it before the birth of Christianity.
